CCMA Awards - Branding
Logo design / branding concept for the CCMA awards Dublin as well as press ad design, menu design and brochure design.
The CCMA awards brief was a job that we at designwest really enjoyed getting our teeth stuck into. For this logo design we really had a clean sheet to work off as the previous designs that had been used for CCMA did not have a specific logo or branding concept.
The end design is a very clever logo design - the outline of a ‘person’ which symbolizes a winner. The main body of the ‘person is made up from keywords that reflect the CCMA and what it stands for. The asterix which replaces the head of the person refers back to the line ‘people promoting excellence’ which is the embodiment of the awards. The modern typography and striking colours used along with the striking logo design will ensure that the CCMA awards will get the attention they deserve for the upcoming awards in the winter of 2009.

Best Price Beauty - Branding & Website Design
Design of identity and branding concept as well as promotional material, website design and signage (internal and external) bag designs and press advertising
Best price beauty is a branding concept which was designed by designwest to reflect the youthful but cost effective brand values. The Branding / Logo Design is very striking and instantly recognizable. The brief for designwest was to create a full branding concept that would work across the board on a variance of mediums. The Icon/identity that is part of the logo (the man being cut out with a scissors) design reflects the nature of the brand in that the middle man is quite literally being cut out hence the product is much more cost effective.
The website design whilst ongoing www.bestpricebeauty.ie works very well and is very striking and clear because of the colour palette being used.

Giggles - Identity
Creation of Logo Design and Brochure design, Letterhead design and magnetic business card design
The Giggles theatre school ad was one of those jobs that designwest really enjoyed. The brief was to create an identity / logo design that would appeal to the target market and that is Kids up to teen and their mothers. In this instance we decided that perhaps we should create actual characters that would actually feature as part of the logo design / identity design – these characters would be in costume to depict the ‘drama’ aspect of the school. We used our illustrator to tailor create the characters so that they are copyright of the client hence will not be seen anywhere else which is often the case because of stock characters. We also produced magnetic business cards for the clients that again were ideal for the target market i.e.. Mums could stick these on the fridge for future use. The end result from design west was an identity design, folder design and business card design that really blew the client off her feet!

Gateway Leisure - Identity
Creation of logo and branding design for the brand new gateway centrein Belmullet
Gateway Leisure brief was one brief we at designwest really enjoyed completing in the past few months. The brief was to create and design a ‘fun and dynamic logo’ and branding which would reflect the centre and all its facilities. We are delighted with the results and the logo design certainly ticks all of the right boxes. One of the reasons this was such an enjoyable brief to complete was because of all of the supporting elements, which needed to be completed before the opening of the centre in March 2009. These included supporting design for the gateway website design, external signage, wall illustrations, internal signage, brochures, party room invitations, key rings, loyalty cards, entry security credit cards, letterheads and corporate suite for Gateway Leisure, and also the logo and branding design for the various internal areas in the centre such as ‘kid island’ and ‘park lanes’ restaurant.
In addition to Gateway Leisure branding we also created beautiful illustrations and identities reflective of Gateway Leisure branding – in the form of the ‘gateway gang’ who are the personalities that were created by designwest to reflect the fun and space age atmosphere in this beautiful development and these characters embody the values and indeed target market of the centre itself. It is rare that we at designwest get the scope
-

The Gateway Gang
Creation of Characters to compliment brand values and ideals of Gateway Leisure
The Gateway Gang were designed and created by designwest as part of the overall gateway centre brief to both enhance and embody the overall branding values of Gateway Leisure. The characters were illustrated by designwest’s own illustrator who has been responsible for many nationwide tv and print campaigns involving other well known family name brands. The characters themselves which are featured in-depth on the website design itself www.gatewayplex.ie each have their own personalities and skills each of which reflect various areas in the complex. There is ‘Robert the Rocket’ then “Zeta the bowling queen’ and lastly but not least ‘ Sharp shooting Sean’.
These characters and their supporting brand identity will be used ongoing to promote the centre in their own right acting as a perfect compliment to the main branding itself by way of stickers and t-shirt design and various other print media such as press advertising.
-

The Park Lanes - Identity
Creation of Identity for Park Lanes Restaraunt
The park lanes identity and logo design was created by designwest for the restaurant area of Gateway Leisure. The brief was to create a modern clean identity which was reflective of bowling but not overtly so. The final chosen design does this with the creation of an ‘asterix’ type shape which is made from a radius of bowling pins. This ‘asterix’ shape will be used as an icon in the various branding applications for the park lanes restaurant such as on the internal signage as well as on the napkin design as well as the main menu design and will be used in its own right on all future print and promotional material and advertising for this area.

-

Gateway Leisure - Website
Creation of website design for Gateway Leisure, Belmullet, Co. Mayo.

We are very happy with the results as the finished product reflects very well the designwest brief which was to create a website design that was fun and vibrant and informative for the target market – which was primarily aimed at schoolchildren right up to teenagers and their parents. The site needed to be ultra user friendly to accommodate all of these age groups whilst also being conscious of the older users that would navigate through the website.
-

ROSEBUD - Branding identity
Creation of Identity and Branding Values for Rosebud
The Rosebud brief was an interesting one for design west because it needed to work on a number of levels. It needed to be an identity and branding design that was acutely aware of the target market at hand so it needed to be very positive in terms of the look and feel whilst also being both modern and friendly. We think the end result does just that. This brief required the branding design in the first instance and was then followed by signage, sandblasted window design as well as business card design and also a leaflet design and finally a website design www.rosebud.ie
-

Paul Claffey Tours - Identity
Creation of apt identity design / logo for Paul Claffey Tours
The Paul Claffey tours identity and branding design was designed by designwest in late 2008. This was quite a challenging brief as it was required to reflect a number of aspects such as travel, fun, music and stars (as in the singers etc.) The end logo was one that we think reflected all of these aspects very well. The logo has been applied to letterhead design, compliment slip design, t-shirt design and also brochure design, It has also been used in various mediums i.e. press advertising which required different versions of the logo such as full colour and two colour as well as one colour options.

Cleary’s of kiltimagh – Branding and logo re-design
Cleary’s Nissan - branding and logo re-design
Cleary’s of Kiltimagh – a long time established car dealership - came to designwest with a view to updating the existing logo design and branding and bringing it up to date whilst being very conscious that the new branding should not take away from either the old identity but also importantly we had to be very aware that it needed to work alongside the Nissan dealership branding. The end result was a very modern branding and logo design that uses very clean, modern and friendly typography and that most certainly does not conflict with the Nissan branding that they also use. To denote the different areas in Cleary’s i.e. Factors, parts, service we used different colour tabs in very modern and clean colours – taken from a rainbow coloured line which was used under the word Cleary’s. This coloured line represents the myriad of both services and people within the company. Finally as a sign –off designwest created a friendly little icon of a smiling car (Nissan) that we used on the banners as both full stops and also the dot of an exclamation mark! We are delighted with the end result as were Cleary’s.
-

John O’Donnell Pharmacy Castlebar – Stickers
Creation of packaging design stickers for John O’Donnell Pharmacy including print management of same.
Designwest was briefed in this instance by John O’Donnell’s Pharmacy Castlebar to design stickers and create a look that was a mix between authentic and modern. John O’Donnell wanted the stickers to reflect the fact that the medicines/mixtures were home made by themselves by the pharmacy – hence the use of the pestle an mortar which of course is also a well known graphic linked with pharmacy’s. We used a very new font that was perfectly suited to the typography on the labels being both modern but also authentic. The sticker design included 6 variants for the larger bottle and 7 variants for the smaller mixtures. We used very soft but apt colours to denote the various applications i.e. a soft pink for a baby cough mixture. The end result was a range of stickers that all had the same overall brand essence but were instantly recognizable as being different. The design of the labels was completed by designwest and the stickers were printed by signwest our sister signage and printing company.

-

Siscin Teo
Creation of Logo design / Identity Design and Brochure design and business card design
The brief for designwest in relation to siscín teo was to create an identity / logo design that was reflective of the name and something which perhaps had an Irish twist or feel to it. The client was very happy with the results – we created a bird’s foot imprint that of course was created because of the name siscín teo – which means little bird. The client also required some brochure design, business card design and also web hosting and registration. The brochure design was primarily designed to promote the business – which is a 3d design and animation company - and will be sent out to prospective clients to inform them of the various services the company can provide. This was an unusual one for design west – but welcomed – as it also had an Irish translation for all of the text in both the brochure design and the business card design.
-

TLR - Identity
Creation of modern logo design identity design and Branding values for TLR
Designwest created this very modern and dynamic identity design / logo design for TLR – top level roofing – in Charlestown, Co. Mayo when the client came to us late in 2008 requesting a revamp of the old logo. We decided to re-invent the wheel and created this identity and branding using colours that suited the existing fleet of vans and also as the colour red was one of the features that many clients recognized as being part of TLR. We decided to create a completely new logo that depicts a building with the red arrow depicting a roof and of course ‘upwards’ which is the base feature of all roofs. Design west used a modern but quite technical san-serif font in the logo design and branding. The results are an identity design that the client is thrilled with and has already created increased awareness for this modern and dynamic roofing company.

The client also required the design and production of pull-up banners, packaging design in the form of various boxing solutions as well as bottle packaging design and also sticker design and production. They also required other elements such as postcard designs, a full corporate suite in the form of letterhead design, business card design and compliment slip design. We thoroughly enjoyed working on this diverse brief and seeing it through to its completion though work with this client is ongoing as the launch of this international organic brand is imminent in Ireland hopefully later this year in 2009.
